The Florida State Seminoles Baseball team defeated the Florida Gators, 7-2, in front of announced sell out crowd of 9, 276 at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville on Tuesday night.

On the mound, the Seminoles were led by Geoff Parker and Brian Busch who combined to hold the Gators to just two runs on six hits. In his second start against Florida, Parker was once again masterful in is 4.2 innings of work as he allowed just two runs, none earned, three hits, striking out four and walking two.

Busch came in relief with two outs in the fifth and pitched the rest of the way, giving up just three hits and striking out six, while improving his record to 4-0 on the year.

Florida State scored first, just like they did in the first two meetings of the year, as right fielder Kamm Washington over run a fly ball hit by Stuart Tapley in the second inning, which allowed him to reach base safely. Tapley then moved to second on a single back up the middle by Sherman Johnson and then scored on an RBI single by Devon Travis for a 1-0 lead.

The Gators answered in the bottom of the second when Tyler Thompson whistled a 1-0 pitch from Parker into the right field stands to give UF a 2-1 lead, which would be its only lead of the game.

FSU came right back in the top of the third to tie the game with a run. Tyler Holt led off the inning with a single off of Gator reliever Justin Poovey. He then took secod on a wild pitch and then scored on an RBI single by Stephen Cardullo. The Seminoles had a chance to do more damage in the inning, however UF went to the bullpen for the second time in the game bringing in Hudson Randall, who came in an struck out Tapley and got Travis to fly out to left after intentionally walking Sherman to load the bases.

Florida threatened in the bottom of the third as they had runners on the corners with one out, but came up empty as Parker got Daniel Pigott to fly out to right, and then made a beautiful play on bunt by Thompson by sprinting off the mound and tagging first base to end the threat.

The Seminoles took advantage of the third Gator error of the gamein the fifth inning, when Sherman Johnson doubled to right allowing Tapley who was at second base to score for the 3-2 lead.

The Gator threatened again the bottom of the sixth when Florida catcher Mike Zunino led off with a walk, again failed to score when Preston Tucker grounded out to end the inning.

Florida State extended the lead to 5-2, when the scored two more runs in the seventh, as they took advantage of yet another Florida error. Mike McGee started the inning by reaching first on a fielding error at third, moved to second on a wild pitch and would score one batter later when Ramsey registered an RBI double down the right field line. Florida once again went to the pen and brought in Kevin Chapman. Tapley then battled to draw a walk. During the at-bat, Ramsey moved to third on a passed ball. Two batters later, Ramsey would score on a sac-fly.

The Gators again had a chance to answer, and even tie up the game, as they put runners at the corners with two outs in the seventh with power hitting Tucker at the plate, however Busch got him to fly out to Holt to end the threat.

Tapley put the game away in the top of the ninth as he creamed a 2-1 pitch off of Chapman over the left field wall for the 7-2 final score.

Florida finished the game with a season high five errors.
